The SNA is a national, nonprofit professional organization representing more than 57,000 members who are committed to providing high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country. Since its founding in 1946, the SNA has become the recognized authority on school nutrition, fulfilling its mission of advancing the availability, quality, and acceptance of school nutrition programs. The ANC is an opportunity for attendees to network, learn about new trends in foodservice, and better understand current school nutrition needs across the country.

School nutrition leaders feel it’s important to know the origination of the products they serve in their cafeterias and lunchrooms. SunButter is proud to deliver products grown and made in the U.S. With seven grams of protein per serving and more vitamins and minerals than nut butter, SunButter is a great choice for foodservice.

Just 1.12 oz (2 Tbsp) of SunButter is equal to 1 meat/meat alternate (MMA). SunButter is also compliant with USDA Smart Snack Standards. To qualify as a Smart Snack, a snack or entrée must first meet these general nutrition standards:

  • Be a grain product that contains 50 percent or more whole grains by weight (have a whole grain as the first ingredient); or
  • Have as the first ingredient a fruit, a vegetable, a dairy product, or a protein food; or
  • Be a combination food that contains at least ¼ cup of fruits and/or vegetables; and
  • The food must meet the nutrient standards for calories, sodium, sugar, and fats

School foodservice professionals not only have to be concerned with meeting the daily requirements for student meals, but also with offering food choices to those with allergies. Students with allergies have risen almost 2% in just 10 years, and nearly 18% of children with food allergies have had reactions while in school. SunButter understands the importance of providing food choices for allergen-afflicted students. We use simple ingredients to create a delicious flavor that is free from the top eight food allergens. Consider sunflower butter as an allergen friendly product that can have the same applications as peanut butter.

Attending the SNA ANC allows us the opportunity to have face-to-face conversations with foodservice directors and dieticians. Be sure to stop by our booth at the SNA to have a taste and discover the deliciousness of SunButter Sunflower Butter. We recently published a new recipe book, specific for foodservice, with a variety of recipes for breakfast, entrees, and snacks.

Visit us in Booth 1917 at ANC 2017. We’ll be there Sunday, July 9 to Wednesday, July 12.
